​Introduction to Photobooks / Possibilities of the medium

With a generous support of the IBC (International Blue crescent), arthereistanbul will organize and an empowerment program for emerging artists and art professionals. The serie of workshops and art talks will be organised with several art professionals including art managers, academics, curators, thinkers, and art critics, the series of talks, workshops will be during December 2016. Aim of the workshops and talks is to bring emerging Syrian and Turkish artists together to discuss the challenges and ways to deal with the art scene and system in Turkey, inform them regarding their rights and exchange experiences and knowledge, Also provide some practical and hand on workshops on art related topics and subjects.  A workshop by Volkan Kızıltunc (photographer, academic, member of FUAM and co-founder of TOZ), will be for image-based artists and photographers to discover the possibilities of photobooks.  In the first part of the workshop: participants will be tought about the history of photobooks, editing, sequencing, storytelling and structuring a photobook. But also the students will also learn the importance of the choice of materials, types of paper, binding, pagination, cover and on other important aspects like the diffusion and distribution possibilities and strategies of self publish photobooks.  In the second part of the workshop: we'll examine the sample photobooks created before during FUAM workshops and will work on our own photobooks.  So PLEASE bring 20-50 printed photos or collected images from magazines, newspapers to practice how to create a photo book. For : photographers, image-based artists, print-makers, graphic designers and anyone who wish to discover the universe of photobooks.  Limited with 20 participant.
