Led by the Institut français de Turquie, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ankara, the Goethe-Institut and the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the project Be Mobile-Create Together! seeks to promote artistic and cultural exchanges between Europe and Turkey through the establishment of a multi-national and multi-disciplinary network of artist residencies. Whilst stimulating young talents, the project aims to foster the development of durable ties between art scenes in Turkey and Europe.
Be Mobile-Create Together! will offer selected artists and authors the opportunity to reside in well-reputed artist residencies across France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey, covering all costs related to travel, transportation and artistic work production. The partner institutions of this project will connect residency programmes in Europe and Turkey, and provide artists with an ideal environment for creativity and productivity as well as the possibility of getting involved in the local art and cultural scenes. The project would thereby allow them to enrich their own practices through the exchange of skills and experiences. Beyond the traditional art hubs such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Istanbul and Paris, the project also includes peripheral residencies that wish to deepen their collaboration at an international level. Thus, the project not only provides emerging artists with unique professional experience but also contributes to the strengthening the intercultural relationship between Europe and Turkey.
Be Mobile-Create Together! will establish a network between the following artist residencies: in Germany, HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts (Dresden), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin) and Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart); in France, Camargo Foundation (Cassis), La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) and Le Cube (Issy-les-Moulineaux); in the Netherlands, Dansmakers Amsterdam, Rast Theater (Amsterdam), Jan van Eyck Academie (Maastricht) and Writers Unlimited (the Hague); in Turkey, IKSV Residency and arthereistanbul (Istanbul). Barbara Residency (Ayvalik), Göl Yazievi (Bursa), Misi Art House (Bursa) and Nesin Art Village (Sirince) will be supplementing the IKSV Residency by inviting artists for a week-long field trips.
Be Mobile – Create Together! is realised within the framework of the EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey. The EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue project is designed within the scope of the Civil Society Sector funds constructed under the leadership of the Directorate for European Union Affairs (DEUA) and implemented by the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI).
