Marta Simeón is a multidisciplinary visual artist trained in various European countries, mainly in Italy, where she specialised in contemporary engraving. Between 2011 and 2017 she lived in Morocco and Argentina, with the aim of perfecting disciplines such as engraving, papermaking and ceramics. Since 2018, she has been alternating her artistic creation with the design of artistic workshops with a didactic approach. Her studio in Spain is called Taller MÀ and you can follow her on

Her series "Akan Canavarlar" explores the hidden and contradictory aspects of human nature through the symbolic figure of the monster. Far from being purely terrifying, many of these creatures appear innocent, playful or even humorous—reflecting how our inner fears and desires often take unexpected forms. With emotional depth and psychological nuance, Simeón invites us to confront what lies beneath the surface.

 

During her residency a @Arthereistanbul, Marta has incorporated into her work the Ebru technique—a traditional Turkish method of painting on water, still widely practiced today in Turkey. This addition brings new layers of fluidity, unpredictability, and cultural resonance to her ongoing exploration of human complexity.
