Concept:

walking the same streets doing the same things existence is flattened and emptied day after day

Bringing light onto to a canvas elements in progress

Diving into an understanding of life’s folds and pages

Catching fleeting answers in the daily repetition

Transcribing the search for the echoes of existence

Aladdin Alhassoun’s Statement

This show presents abstracted scenes which are spots of light on pavement: they have the same visual impact as patterns on textile or as a portrait - they hold the same aesthetic value as a splash of co lor on a wall.

The flexibility and lightness of water-based inks create impressions and emotions through transparent layers of colour.

Zia Foley’s Statement

I use patterns and color to explore the echoes of my subconscious and conscious mind – the memories, the influences, the inspirations, the eternal paradoxes and questions battling in my head.

I begin with a line, random strokes of paint, or patches of color. Then I spend time looking and listening to what they have to say. I do not think of what I would like to communicate, but rather what they would like to express. I let the colors, the lines, and their shapes and forms speak to me. They tell me what steps to take, how they want to proceed, and where they want to end. Through this process, I echo my dreams, my hopes, my memories, and my stories.

The process does not end there. I invite you in to spend some time looking and listening to the artwork. What do their echoes say to you?
