About the event
The Footsteps Library, located in arthereistanbul in Kadıköy, is launching a reading group. The reading group gatherings, which will be held every Sunday between 16-18 on Zoom, will start on 23 October. Those in Istanbul can also join the gathering on Zoom from arthereistanbul.
The book that will be read and discussed for the first meeting is Ryszard Kapuściński's 1982 book, Shah of Shahs. Journalist, writer and poet Kapuscinski reported from Tehran for the Polish Press Agency during the Iranian Revolution. This book, which describes the first days of the mullah's power in Iran after the overthrow of Reza Shah Pahlavi, with photographs, audio tapes and notes taken by the author in his hotel room, is one of the keys to understanding the resistance led by women in Iran today.
The language will be Turkish at the first meeting, and the next gathering will be held in English the other week for the same book, Shah of the Shahs.
Please send an email to Ayakizikitapligi@gmail.com for the Zoom link to join the reading group meeting.
